This album is a Fortress
Protest the Hero obviously won't appeal to everybody. If you listen to it once and aren't automatically sucked into the music, you probably won't ever like it. But... for punk/screamo listeners, this CD delivers. Big time. I even hear a bit of an early metal influence as well, but they are in no way like any other band I have ever heard. Do yourself a favor though; if you're going to buy this cd, get a good pair of speakers or headphones to listen to it on! It makes all the difference. The sounds are so crisp, good speakers are a must. I would never want to battle these guys with guitars, or swords! They'd slay me, and all my friends. Protest the Hero? HELL YES! 5/5
Protest the Hero does it again!
This is one of the greatest records I have listened to in a long time. I started listening to Protest the Hero right as Kezia came out and loved every minute of it. Fortress steps it up to a whole new level, it is one of those very few albums that you can listen to from start to finish and not skip a single track. This masterpiece is just as good if not better than Between the Buried and Me's epic album Colors.
simply awesome!
It is incredible that anyone at any time in their life can accomplish what these guys do, but the fact that these guys are doing it in their early 20s is even more fascinating. Seriously, this album is so well thought out, the lyrics are really crazy and far out there, the things they sing about have the most bizarre metaphors and they always give off a feeling as though they are in a battle, VERY EPIC! That's not even about how awesome these musicians actually are, which is what I love most about this band, the instrumentals, odd time measures, and a hefty dose of insanity that they throw into the mix for every song allows you to be able to interpret this band as one of the best out there today! Great great album and an improvement from Kezia!
