Where to start?
This is crazy talent...pure and simple...these guys are young and got some mean chops. This release is some of the most technically creative stuff I've ever heard. I like softer music too and I thought stuff like Strung Out and Rise Against is as hard as I'd like...until now. Listening to the ridiculously fast and creative guitar work just gets you going. Rather than being swept in by the music the experience is rather different in that you are constantly 'wowed' by it and eagerly awaiting every next sequence. Impressive stuff and look forward to more
It's so nice they must be from Canada
Post-Hardcore is such an over played genre in music today that it's hard to believe a new band (to the U.S. atleast) can come out with anything good. Protest the Hero's new album is not only good, it's amazing. Whoever heard of technical punk metal? Well, using their roots as a punk cover band Protest the Hero spent a few years honing their skills and knocked the ball out of the park with Kezia. It's a concept album that isn't overly pretentious, it has complex guitar work that isn't too repetative, and the singer mostly sings! With all the growls of the thousands of young generic metalcore bands signing deals these days it's refreshing to hear a band try something different and create something beautiful and brutal at the same time. They're like the Canadian Fall of Troy.
Buy it. Play it. Love it.
